By the mid-1800s, graphic design had taken off.

The graphic design of this time was in high demand.  A man named Williams Morris saw the market for this.  In 1861, Morris set out and started his first art-decorating firm.  It is considered that this firm had a large part in prompting the Arts & Crafts movement.  His firm was called Morris & Co. This also started the beginning of the Interior Design market.  It could be said that Morris is the father to what we know today as modern Graphic Design (“Historic Style – William Morris History”).
