Another early piece of communication was the Blau Monument.  The Blau Monument is from what is thought to be Iraq.  It dates back to 3100 BC.  Its origins are not completely known, but it is believed that this particular piece was used as a “…record a transaction in which land was exchanged for various goods, with the carved figures representing the individuals involved” (“The Blau Monuments”).  It is not entirely clear on exactly what these early forms of “boundary stones” or “Mesopotamian kudurru” were used for, but they are an example of the need to communicate to others using Graphic Design
