The Principles of Design

The Principles of Design are also a very important part of Graphic Design and communication.  These principles help us convey our message effectively without jeopardizing our audience’s interest, or the message that we are trying to convey.  Using them appropriately insures that we are correctly depicting the message.  Depending on the source, the Principles of Design differ.  The most common Principles of Design are balance, proportion, dominance, contrast, rhythm, and unity.  You can apply these principles in conjunction with the elements of art that we discussed previously.
