The Lascaux caves are located in Dordogne Valley of France.  They were discovered on accident by four teenage boys in 1940.  What they found was what we call today ‘The Hall of the Bulls’.  Located inside the cave were the earliest frescos known to man.  The frescos depicted cattle, horses, and deer.  After the cave was discovered, it was continuously searched.  Inside, more frescos were found.  Over 600 painting and 1,500 engravings have been discovered at Lascaux.  To many, this is considered a gift of communication from our early ancestors.  Today, the caves have been closed to preserve the early images.  There is also a website that can be viewed today that will take you on a visual tour of the frescos in the caves (“Lascaux Cave”).​
